Before the emergence of social media only predominate and respected figures in the interior
design industry gained exposure through traditional forms of media, or by expensive marketing
campaigns . However with the emergence of social networking websites, anyone can showcase
their own ideas, content and opinions using online platforms. Social Media used as a marketing
strategy has enabled designers to gain attention without having to invest a sizeable amount of
money on advertising. The fact that it’s free however means that social media is flooded with
interior designers show casing their work.Unlike traditional media which tends to just deliver
content it allows interaction from its audience.

This chapter encompasses the analysis and findings of the research carried out from both secondary and primary sources. Graphs and charts are used to illustrate the research data that I have accumulated throughout the investigation. Content from the literature has been used to contextualise emerging themes from the findings , drawing upon as areas of corroboration and disagreement.

Top social media sites are generally image-based. This in turn gives the advantage of being designer friendly thus empowering designers to gain attention without having to invest a sizeable
amount of money on advertising.The fact that it’s free however means that social media is flooded
with interior designers show casing their work. Unlike traditional media which is inclined to just
deliver content social media platforms also allows and encourages interaction from its audience.

Not all social media platforms have the ability of depicting visual content in its best form whilst
efficiently targeting the right audience, I have chosen to focus on the following social media sites
based on the fact they are they are currently the top five most popular platforms used by
the interior designers who took part in my questionnaire.
