My objective of applying to this
Fellowship Programme is research and teaching of management. In particular, I
am interested in factors that affect the competitive performance and sustainability
of a business concern, and the manner in which changes in business environment affect
an organisation’s structure, long-term business strategy, product development,
manufacturing, supply chains, distribution network, information needs and
I am inclined to study the various
opportunities in business that come with changes and disruptions. It creates in
me a thrust to understand every change that can be a significant opportunity
and can be capitalised to create great businesses.
In order to gain an appreciation of
these and related issues, it is essential for me to have a strong footing in
the content and application of Entrepreneurship and Development management
along with a strong perspective in General Management.
I believe that the FPM would be
invaluable in helping me achieve these objectives. It would enable me to
channel my quantitative and conceptual skills in analysing business issues and
would open up new avenues in research. Subsequent to earning a Ph.D., I would
like to guide budding entrepreneurs and would also like to apply for a faculty
position at a leading university.
I believe that my background in
engineering and management has prepared me for such a career. I
was lucky to gain an opportunity, as a research member in a research project
under the guidance of Dr. Bhavya Soni (Assistant Professor) in Rajasthan
University where we developed a tool to measure Happiness Index of various
organisations and suggested them with training solutions wherever they lacked. It
was an exercise that introduced me to world of research starting from goal
formulation to end result interpretations. There I understood the power of
research and huge impact its application can cater to.
Throughout my school, undergraduate education and post
graduate education my scholastic records and achievements have been
outstanding. I have been a gold medallist both at my graduate and post graduate
Upon graduating from business school
I joined one of the leading university’s in Jaipur as Assistant Professor .
This is where I learned how to apply the principles and lessons of management
to real life. It was fascinating; and transformed my interest in management
research into a passion. I read extensively, particularly for two reasons to
impart my students’the latest updated content and to remain contemporary to various
– structure and systems, strategy and other dynamics of the business world.
I have learnt a lot about startups during
my MBA and my present job. At the time of MBA I had worked as Content Writer
for a startup at its beginning stage INTO. I learned how from manufacturing to
packaging to distribution the science of management needs to be transformed as
an art form to keep your structure moving. I have very closely seen the
challenges they faced and how they overcome that and drifted towards the path
of bprofit making.
In my present job, there is an
Entrepreneurship Cell in the department in which I teach. I have helped
formulate entry strategies, plans for expansion and diversification; and also
company business plans to many students who are interested in becoming an
entrepreneur in the future. Also I have done a mini research on “Importance of
social media marketing for entrepreneurs.”
All this has given me valuable
insights into the environment in which companies operate . How they affect this
environment and are affected by it in return.
While the study of and research in management is my
prime objective today, my interests in literature, travel and nature help me
maintain a sense of perspective in life. I like to write and have had some articles
and poems published in a leading online magazine IUemag. I have also been a
member of Udaan NGO since my undergraduation days
