My family has played a key role in my personal development by instilling in me values that have served me well. My father is a second generation entrepreneur with a successful brokerage firm dealing in cattle and poultry feed such as oil meals and grains. My family has always encouraged me to strike a balance between academics and extra-curriculars. I have always believed this balance to be the foundation for a successful career. Putting this into practice, I’ve managed to build a multifaceted profile. I firmly believe that hard work is a prerequisite for success. I have consistently performed well in my academics. I went to school at Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School, which has been consistently ranked as the topmost ICSE co-ed day school in India. I Qualified for the INSPIRE scholarship by virtue of being in the top 1% in HSC board examination. The engineering entrance test MHT-CET had 2.5 lakh aspirants, of which I stood 341st in the state. I joined Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), a top state government engineering college, for information technology engineering. My 8.67 GPA in engineering is a testament to my efforts. Apart from academics, I have also worked diligently to further develop myself by having a strong background of extra-curricular activities. I was awarded the 1st Place in HIRE, a management event, and the 1st Runner Up in The CONSULTANT ’15, a national level consulting competition, organised by the Entrepreneurship Cell of VJTI. I found the perfect combination of my passion for sports and interest in management, Enthusia, a national level annual sports festival. In my final year as a part of this festival, I was selected as the Treasurer and handled a budget of 12 lakhs. Being a member of the core management committee, I led a team of 50 people over the course of the festival. This gave me an opportunity to improve my personality as it taught me to better deal with people, work in teams, and manage my time. Working in different positions of responsibility over three years for the festival was a transformative experience for me. Interacting with such a diverse group of people made me more open minded and helped me understand the importance of different perspectives in developing the ability to approach situations and challenges. To complement my theoretical knowledge, I chose to intern in two distinct work environments to gain a holistic perspective of engineering and management. My first internship was at Kuchnaya Technolabs, a a start-up in the technology space, while the second one was with Barclays Technology Centre India. Impressed by my desire to learn and my intellectual ability, the management of Barclays awarded me with a pre placement offer that gave me an entry into their Graduate Program. I have had a very steep learning curve at Barclays in the past 18 months. Working on the build out of a derivatives trading application, a strategic project of the Investment bank, has given me great exposure and insights of how an investment bank works and specifically the fundamentals of the derivatives markets. Liaising with different teams of end users, business analysts and developers based out of different countries helped me develop my interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills. I also learnt the importance of networking and was inspired by the senior leadership at the CXO level, whom we got the opportunity to interact with. These experiences have given me the opportunity to better understand myself and my motivating factors. In the long term, I feel an inclination towards joining my family business and focusing on its growth. A management program at this stage in my career forms the first step towards actualization of my career objectives. My short term goal is to acquire quality general academic education in business administration and subsequent to the management program at IIM Bangalore is to take up a general management or leadership role which will allow me to meet new people, showcase my analytical ability and take initiative in improving the overall business of the company. My objective is to develop necessary domain knowledge and leadership, entrepreneurial and deal-making skills necessary. I think IIM Bangalore which has an ecosystem conducive to research and learning will help me gather insights and push myself to the limits to bring out my best. I believe that studying at IIM B will provide the optimal accomplishment for my short-term objective, as well as a significant advancement towards achieving my long-term goal. Engagements with the faculty, alumni and batch-mates at IIM Bangalore would develop my thinking and character. IIM-B has the qualities that best fit my expectations, objective, and background. It is a measure and a target in itself.
